I Think I'm Broken - Day 7

What fresh hell is this?

I have spent all day in tears over everything. EVERY SILLY LITTLE THING.

I do not cry! Well, sometimes of course, over big things, but NEVER over nothing and all day long off and on.

Is this something that is common after surgery? Some weird hormonal fluctuations? Or just a symptom of not being able to dull feelings with overeating?

  1. I was super weepy after surgery; must be something in the anesthesia!

  2. Honestly? I think it's withdrawal. From food. I went through a 3 week liquid diet...I went through my withdrawal then. But I most definitely had that same weepiness. UN-fun!!

  3. I personally didn't get weepy, but a huge number of people on the gastric band forum that I visit who've just been banded are talking about how incredibly weepy they are and they feel like maybe they made a mistake getting the band and are really down and negative. So I can only assume this is one way the anaesthetic can affect you...or perhaps an after affect of the stress you felt pre-surgery. They seem to be back to there old selves once they can get out and about more. Hope you feel better soon xx

  5. I went through the same thing. In fact there were a few times I had to shut my office door because I was sobbing! It will get better, I promise.

As I look back on that month or so, I think it had to do with the realization that I was never going to be "normal" again. Which, as you progress you realize that you are not really that different and the things that you were scared or nervous about just aren't that big of a deal. Like eating out with people, easy peasy! I totally can enjoy life just like before, only better because I keep getting smaller!

Keep your head up, sweetie! <3

  6. I think it's very normal. They tell tummy tuck patients that at about 2 weeks out you'll have depression for about a week and it'll go away. Very normal...hormones, anesthesia, major life decision - it all adds up. Hang in there.
